Those contending Blue Jays teams had big-name stars like Happ, Russell Martin, Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki, Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion. As those players left, got hurt or became ineffective, the Blue Jays have started to rebuild. They can take heart from the reigning-champion Houston Astros, who challenged for the 2005 World Series with a roster full of big names before starting to rebuild. It only took the Astros 12 more years to win it all.
