The search for a missing 63-year-old man who was hiking in Grasslands National Park has ended after he was found dead over the August long weekend.
Parks Canada worked with an RCMP canine unit, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association and local volunteers to search for Donald Stoliker using vehicles, aircraft and horses.
Stoliker, who is from Newburgh, Ont., had reportedly expressed his intent to hike the Ecotour Road and was last seen around the south access route in the west block of Grasslands National Park on Aug. 1.
The search began Aug. 2.
Stoliker is described as having a slight build, glasses, short dark hair flecked with grey, a deformed fourth finger on his right hand and a slight limp when he walks.
He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, faded blue jeans and carrying a small light-coloured backpack with a sleeping roll attached. There is no photo of Stoliker available at this time.
RCMP said Stoliker has health issues and it is concerned for his well-being.
Parks Canada is reminding people to let friends and family members know where and when you may be going when visiting the back-country. They also reminded people to check in with Parks staff when visiting.
RCMP reported Stoliker was found deceased south of the national park over the weekend.
