Poll shows strong lead for SaskParty as NDP sees bump in support

The latest polling of Saskatchewan voters ahead of the provincial election shows an increase in support for the opposition NDP, with the SaskParty still holding a commanding majority.

The poll surveyed 1,579 people on Tuesday and found support for the SaskParty government was at 46 per cent, down from 48 per cent the week before. The Saskatchewan NDP saw an increase, with 30 per cent of people polled supporting the current opposition party.

“The Saskatchewan party still holds a big 16 point lead among all voters” said Quito Maggi, president of Mainstreet Research – which conducted the poll. “Their lead has narrowed to just (eight) percentage points in Regina and (three) percentage points in Saskatoon but they lead handily outside urban centres.”

The poll also noted a “modest bounce” of support for the provincial liberal party as well.

The margin of error for the survey is reported as +/- 2.45%, 19 times out of 20. Regional margins of error: Regina: +/-4.15%; Saskatoon: +/-4.25%;rest of Saskatchewan: +/-4.38%; 19 times out of 20.
