A water main break is submerging the Victoria Avenue and Ottawa Street intersection in water, but the city is fixing it Thursday.
Starting at 8:30 a.m., eastbound Victoria Avenue will be blocked and water shut off between St. John and Toronto Street.
“We do expect the work to be done before the afternoon rush, although we can always run into difficulties that could extend the period of the work,” said Pat Wilson, the city’s director of water works.
The intersection was still open on Wednesday with a reduced speed limit.
“It is actually safe. It looks worse than it is so there’s water on the street, but it is not deep,” said Wilson.
She added they learnt about the leak last Thursday and had plans to fix it on Saturday.
However, other jobs where people had no water held up all five crews that day. As of Wednesday afternoon, no one was left without water because of the break.
