Moose Jaw police conduct high-risk warrant in murder case

Moose Jaw police found drugs and a loaded handgun at a house in the northwest end of the city on Monday night, while searching for evidence in a murder case.

The high-risk search warrant was conducted as a joint operation with members of the RCMP critical incident program.

The warrant was in relation to the investigation into the murder of Tyrus Ayerst, 21, who was shot Friday night during a robbery.

Two men were arrested and charged with second-degree murder on Saturday.

On Monday night, officers conducting the search warrant intercepted a man with a loaded handgun leaving the house. According to police, there were other people believed to be inside the house who had a “known history of violence and involvement with firearms.” Everyone was removed from the house safely.

One person was charged with possession of methamphetamine and a second was charged with firearms offences.
