Traffic was at a standstill Sunday afternoon because of construction on Highway 11 near Chamberlain.
Minister of Highways and Infrastructure Lori Carr said in a statement the province will stop construction if it means traffic can flow through.
“My officials have been instructed to work with the contractor to make sure these delays do not happen again, even if it means ceasing construction,” she said. “The traffic congestion…is unacceptable.”
Glen Reimer was backed up for an hour and 40 minutes while driving southbound towards Regina.
“We’re in 2018 and I thought people knew how to do construction,” he said.

Highway 11 is the major transportation route between Regina and Saskatoon.
Construction is taking place over about 23 km between Aylesbury and Chamberlain.
Traffic remains restricted to one-lane for drivers traveling both ways.
