Duron Carter and Marc Trestman met with reporters on Monday as the newest Argonaut begins his audition in Toronto.
But it’s as much an off-field audition as it is an on field one. There is no doubt Carter can contribute on the field. We saw the pluses in Saskatchewan but what was said yesterday also confirmed some things we were saying about Carter’s release a few weeks ago.
Trestman said it quite openly. Does Duron love football and is he ready to put in the work?
Trestman knows Carter’s reputation and even Carter said after getting fired, he had to take a good hard look in the mirror to see what needed to change.
The Argonauts are hoping Carter can keep it between the lines while some are thinking Carter may not play a game based on his history.
If Carter does reform his off-field effort and practices like a pro, look out. He’ll become the top receiver in the league. But Carter hasn’t exactly shown that professionalism necessary so it’s more likely this could be a quick stop in Toronto.
