A 17-year-old man is being charged after a car crashed into a tree in Regina.
Police said the crash occurred in the area of the 800 block of Broad Street North around 11:30 p.m. on Monday night.
Police EMS and Regina fire services arrived at the scene and determined all five people inside the car — four 15-year-olds and one 17-year-old — were accounted for. All five were taken to hospital for treatment.
A fire which started inside the car had to be put out.
Due to the potential for serious injury in the crash, Forensic Identification investigators and Collision Reconstruction specialists were called out to assist patrol members and traffic was restricted for a while.
While most of the injuries were relatively minor, one passenger suffered more serious injuries.
The 17-year-old driver was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
He will appear in youth court on Oct. 25.
An investigation into the collision, including follow-up with the victims, is still underway.
