RCMP have charged a 17-year-old boy with a violent sexual assault on the Onion Lake Cree Nation.
Police say a woman was alone in a house on June 2 when a stranger broke in with weapons, sexually assaulted her and fled. The victim was reportedly treated for injuries at the hospital in Lloydminster.
Following an extensive investigation over the course of nearly four months, Onion Lake RCMP arrested and charged the 17-year-old Saturday.
Police said the boy lives in the Onion Lake area.
The suspect can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, but he is facing a string of serious charges including aggravated sexual assault, assault with a weapon, wearing a disguise with the intent to commit a crime and attempting to obstruct justice.
