Saskatchewan is doing even more to help others battling wildfires.
In addition to what has already been sent to B.C., 20 more firefighters, one liaison officer and four wildfire specialists are heading west on Thursday.
Saskatchewan has already sent two CV580A air tankers, one Commander Birddog aircraft, nine support staff, 50 pumps, 200 hoses, 20 firefighters, one liaison officer and 15 wildfire specialists.
B.C. continues to fight up to 200 wildfires that have forced the evacuations of 14,000 residents in numerous communities in the interior of B.C.
On top of that, Saskatchewan is now turning its help south of the border.
Two CL215T air tankers, one Commander Birddog aircraft and the nine support staff that go with it will arrive in Montana Thursday.
“We have had aircraft across Canada and the U.S. before for assistance so this is common for us,” Steve Roberts at the Ministry of Environment confirmed. “If we have the capacity in Saskatchewan we are more than willing to help our partner agencies.”
So far this year the wildfire threat in Saskatchewan has remained low.
