The Roughriders will lose 31-0. That’s what happened Saturday when the Roughriders, after just four days off and forced to make a road trip to play a home team that had seven days off, got shellacked by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
There has been concern all season about Saskatchewan’s anemic offence. High-priced quarterback Zach Collaros, who threw two interceptions and had one of his rare completions stripped and returned for a Blue Bombers touchdown, wouldn’t accept much blame after being replaced by Brandon Bridge early in the third quarter. And for a change Saskatchewan’s defence and special teams couldn’t bail out the offence with a game-turning play.
The Roughriders didn’t even get within range of trying a field goal! Having already clinched a postseason berth, Saskatchewan snapped its three-game winning streak and still has an opportunity to earn a home playoff game, but bouncing back from such an embarrassment won’t be easy.
