William Shatner facing $170 million paternity suit

Peter Sloan has been plagued by one question his whole life – who are his parents?

It appears the Florida-based radio host might finally have his answer.

Sloan has filed a paternity suit against Canadian actor William Shatner – who he claims is his father – for $170 million.

A website registered by Sloan, who now goes by the name Peter Shatner, offers up his theory the “Star Trek” star had an affair with his birth mom Katherine Burt in 1956.

The site discusses Sloan’s upbringing; the 59-year-old was given up for adoption shortly after his birth and he began searching for his birth parents in 1984.

According to the website, “Over the months that followed through a process of research and verification, Peter was able to identify his birth father as Canadian born William Shatner.”

CNN reports Shatner denies Sloan is his son.

According to the lawsuit, Sloan met his alleged father on the set of T.J. Hooker at the Burbank Studios in Hollywood in November 1984.

The lawsuit states it was at this meeting Shatner “admitted” to being Sloan’s father, but in follow-up phone calls between the two, the actor “became agitated and hung-up the phone.”

The suit says a representative for Shatner called Sloan back and told him Shatner “is totally denying paternity at this point.”

“The plaintiff (Sloan) suggested a DNA test but was rebuffed,” the suit says.

Sloan is seeking $30 million in compensatory damages, $90 million in punitive damages and $50 million for pain and suffering.

He is also demanding a jury trial.
