Former Roughrider Justin Cox is back in police custody after a warrant was issued for his arrest more than two weeks ago.
Regina police issued the warrant for Cox on Oct. 5 on charges of assault and breaching his conditions.
The charges stem from a report of a domestic assault on Sept. 25 when police found a woman injured at a home. After being unable to find Cox they issued a warrant for his arrest.
Cox is currently awaiting sentencing for another assault charge stemming from August 2017 which he pleaded guilty to.
The Roughriders released the defensive back in April 2017 after his first domestic assault charge.
Although he was acquitted of that original charge because there wasn’t enough evidence to support it, neither the team or the league allowed him to return as a player.
