They found his truck, but the search for a missing 41-year-old man is into the fourth day Wednesday outside the rural community of Welwyn, Saskatchewan near the Manitoba border.
Johnathan Richter was reported missing on Saturday at 8 p.m. when he didn’t return home after visiting a house in Rocanville. His green truck was found stuck near his home 16 kilometres north of Welwyn.
He is described as 5’8″, 140 lbs with sandy blonde hair and blue eyes, he was last seen wearing a black and blue fleece jacket, jeans and sneakers.
RCMP do not believe his disappearance is suspicious, but concern is growing after four days with no cell phone or banking activity.
Friends, neighbours and community volunteers and local firefighters have all joined the ground search alongside RCMP Search and Rescue teams, police dogs and Civilian Air Search and Rescue teams.
Facebook posts by family members praying for his safe return and thanking the community for their support have been shared hundreds of times.
On Thursday at 12:20 p.m. volunteers found Richter’s body in a slough about one kilometre away from his truck. RCMP continue to investigate but do not believe his death is suspicious.
