The search for a missing man in southeast Saskatchewan has come to a sad end.
Volunteers found 41-year-old Johnathan Richter’s body in a slough near his home north of Welwyn, Saskatchewan.
Richter was reported missing when he didn’t return home from visiting a house in Rocanville on Saturday afternoon. His truck was found stuck near his home about 10 miles of Welwyn.
Community volunteers have been helping RCMP and trained civilian search and rescue crews with a ground search for five days. They found his body at 12:20 p.m. on Thursday in a slough about one kilometre away from his truck.
Police do not believe his death is suspicious. Members of the Moosomin RCMP detachment are continuing the investigation with help from the underwater recovery team. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the circumstances and cause of his death.
