Saskatoon store owner's dreams crushed after recent robberies

A Saskatoon immigrant’s dream has been shattered.
 
Hamid Khan came to the city last summer from Pakistan looking for a better life.
 
He bought the Westmount Foods convenience store on 29th Street West and says it has been nothing short of mental torture ever since.
 
The store has been robbed at least three times since late December with the latest incident happening Monday night.
 
Police confirmed in a news release that three men and one woman used a firearm to rob the business, ordering the lone employee to lie on the floor in the process.
 
Khan says that was the final straw.
 
“I just want to get out of this business,” said Khan. “I just want out of Saskatoon, out of Canada. This is not a life to pass.”

Khan believes it was a mistake ever coming to Saskatoon and is telling people back home to stay and try and make a better life in their own country.

He says the stress is almost unbearable.

“Now when somebody opens the door, my heart starts to race,” said Khan. “Now imagine two or three people coming in at the same time. My blood pressure goes up.”

Khan plans on selling the store but is worried nobody will want to buy it with all the recent robberies.
