A Saskatoon man who pleaded guilty on child pornography charges was sentenced Friday.
Justin Gryba, 27, had filmed nude boys while he was with a volunteer organization in Saskatoon.
Gryba was given two years less-a-day for making child pornography.
That will be followed by three-years’ probation and entry into the sex offender registry.
In March, Gryba pleaded guilty to two counts of making child pornography and two counts of possessing child pornography.
The charges stem from videos and images police found on two heavily-encrypted hard drives seized in 2012. It took officers two years to unlock what’s been described as “military grade encryption.”
As a result of what police could uncover during the initial investigation, Gryba received a two-year sentence in 2013 for possessing child pornography and making child pornography available to other users.
But it was later found he had much more pornography than officers could initially access, resulting in the most recent charges being laid in September 2014.
Friday’s sentence is on top of the 577 days Gryba has already spent in remand.
That’s equivalent to 865.5 days with the one and half time served credit applied.
