RCMP have charged two women after they allegedly led police on a high-speed chase down Highway 11, starting near Girvin and ending with a spike belt near Lumsden on Sunday night.
While a Craik RCMP member had another driver pulled over on the side of the highway, a stolen vehicle swerved towards the police SUV at about 130 km/h near Girvin, according to a police press release.
The vehicle got away and the Craik RCMP officer chose not to pursue it, instead calling for support from the Lumsden detachment.
Police later found the vehicle near Findlater, chased it and used a spike belt near Lumsden to stop it.
The spike belt deflated three of its tires and slowed it down to about 10 km/h. It then hit an RCMP vehicle and stopped.
The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m.
Two women were arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and possession of stolen property.
They appeared in Moose Jaw provincial court on Tuesday to face the charges.
