Saskatchewan Government Insurance’s December traffic safety spotlight is kicking it up an octave.
With this month’s focus being on impaired driving, the Crown corporation remixed Christmas carols to outline the consequences of driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

“People are going to be celebrating the holidays, and sometimes those celebrations involve substances that might impair you,” explained SGI spokesperson Tyler McMurchy. “Have a plan for a safe ride home; do it before you head out because nobody’s making good decisions after one too many spiked eggnogs.”
Similar sentiments were echoed by Regina Police Service Supt. Darcy Koch, who’s also reminding people to find a safe ride home this holiday season.
“Find a way to phone a friend, phone a cab — whatever you do, if you’re making that decision to leave, make a smart decision,” he added.
Supt. Koch said Regina police will be out on several different occasions throughout this month, conducting stop checks and other projects around the city that’ll help curb impaired driving.
Last holiday season, between Dec. 1, 2017 to Jan. 3, three people were killed and 18 others were injured in impaired driving-related crashes in Saskatchewan.
