Tom Wilson is getting a break from the NHL when he doesn’t deserve one.
Wilson had another late hit that left an opponent down on the ice in pain. Brett Seney was his victim this time as he passed the puck with his back turned to Wilson, Seney was popped by the NHL’s biggest predator with a shot to the back.
Was it a blatant head shot, no. It was high and late and to a player in a vulnerable position.
The refs deemed it worth a match penalty so Wilson was kicked out of the game and was to be given an automatic suspension. The NHL reviewed the play and said Wilson can keep playing.
This is the same guy the NHL just fought an appeal for a 20 game suspension that was whittled down to 14.
He is a repeat offender. Calling him a repeat offender doesn’t seem to do it quite justice how consistent Wilson has become with his stupidity on the ice.
Of all the people in the league that don’t deserve a break, it’s Wilson, who should be sitting another 14 games or more.
