The search for a missing man in Swift Current is stretching into its third week, leaving a family hoping for answers before Christmas.
The family of 26-year-old Colton Koop has not seen or heard from him since the early morning hours of Nov. 16. At 6 a.m. on the same day, RCMP got a call about a red 2014 Dodge pickup truck that went over a guardrail and through the ice into the Swift Current Creek.

Firefighters who first arrived on the scene couldn’t find any sign of someone inside the submerged truck. Searches of the creek and the surrounding area by the RCMP underwater dive team and police dogs have not turned up any sign of Koop or any other potential driver.
The owner of the truck confirmed Koop had access to it prior to the crash, which police said could have happened as early as 2 a.m. the same day.
Police are still asking anyone who lives in the surrounding area to check their property and outbuildings for anything unusual or out of place that may be connected to Koop’s disappearance.
RCMP have had several tips from people suggesting Koop has been trying to avoid police, but when they have followed up with his friends and contacts none have provided any information that he has been in touch with them or know where he is.
Police have clarified Koop is not the subject of any criminal investigation or charges at this time and they are trying to find him for his family.
