47-year-old charged with attempted murder after fight

A 47-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a fight at a house on Montreal Street east of downtown that left a 53-year-old man with serious injuries.

Officers were called to the house on Wednesday morning at 10: 15 a.m. to respond to an injured man. While on their way, they encountered the 47-year-old suspect with blood on him, about a block away from the house; they took him into custody.

Both the victim and the suspect were taken to the hospital to treat their injuries.

Police said the investigation found the 47-year-old assaulted the 53-year-old with a weapon and also allegedly threatened to kill another 40-year-old man who left the house.

The 47-year-old made his first appearance in provincial court on charges of attempted murder, uttering threats and breach of probation on Thursday morning.
