The calendar might still officially say spring, but the first week of May is ushering in some beautiful summer weather.
The forecast calls for sunny skies and temperatures hitting the high 20s for the rest of the week.
“We’re in a bit of a blocking pattern and what that means is that the storms that come in from the Pacific across B.C. and eventually effect the prairies, they’re being deflected basically to either side of us,” explained Dan Fulton, a meteorologist with Environment Canada. “So we’re just setting up for mainly sunny skies and fairly warm temperatures for the remainder of the weekend and pretty much right through the coming week.”
Normal high temperatures for early May are around 16 C, so the highs this week are about 10 degrees above normal.
It should be a good week to get outside and do some yard work or maybe just head out on the golf course or patio.
