Saskatoon hit and run caught on video

Saskatoon police are investigating a hit and run that happened early Saturday morning, part of which was caught on video.

Watch Commander Tim Failler said officers were called to the scene on Taylor Street East at around 5:40 a.m. A white Dodge Ram flatbed, which had been reported stolen from Clavet, hit a parked truck not far from Holy Cross High School.

A YouTube video of the incident shows the driver of the stolen truck attempting to leave the scene. 

The vehicle’s front left tire appears to be completely destroyed. Sparks fly as the driver pulls forward and backward, sometimes over sidewalks and on to front lawns. A few bystanders keep their distance, but can be heard gasping and yelling as the truck does more damage.

After a minute, the man gets out of the vehicle and runs westbound on Taylor.

Police say their K-9 unit failed to track down the suspect, and no arrests have been made.

The video is being handed over to the investigator.
