Ground has been broken on a new $75-million retirement home in Regina’s east end.
The 216-suite complex known as Green Falls Landing is going up near Arcola Avenue and Chuka Boulevard, and will feature a mix of independent and assisted seniors’ units.
The company building it, Revera, called it more of a retirement community.
Along with the suites, the complex will also include a 1,600 square foot fitness centre, a spa, a yoga centre, a theatre, an arts studio and a planting and gardening area. There will even be a pub.
In addition, 25,000 square feet is being set aside for a retail plaza. Those with Revera say that space will be open to the public, calling it a destination for the entire neighbourhood.
The project will cover seven acres of land. The company said the build will create about 300 short-term construction and skilled labour positions.
Once Green Falls Landing opens, expected to be in 2018, roughly 150 positions of full-and part-time jobs will also be created.
