It took police two spike belts, pepper spray and a stun gun to arrest a man in Regina Wednesday morning.
At about 4:45 a.m. police spotted a vehicle matching the description of one reporting missing earlier in the week. However, the driver did not stop for police leading to a brief chase.
Police first used a spike belt to deflate the front tires, but the driver still didn’t stop.
The chase was briefly called off as the car reached the downtown area but police maintained sight of the 2008 Hyundai Tuscon the whole time.
A second spike belt was deployed and the vehicle stopped safely near 8th Avenue and McIntyre Street.
Officers used pepper spray on the man behind the wheel and his female passenger, who the man put between himself and police as they exited the car. Police said that the man had repeatedly stopped the woman’s attempted to exit the vehicle.
Regina police then deployed a taser to arrest the man, who was determined to be OK by EMS before being officially charged.
Nathaniel Runns, 25, faces four charges including theft over $5,000, fleeing from police, forcible confinement, and possession of cocaine.
He made his first court appearance Thursday morning.
