A Saskatoon man is $8,000 richer after appearing on the Price is Right.
Chris Ooms was in California for a wedding last March when he stumbled across some tickets for the beloved game show. He showed up for the taping with his wife and daughter in white T-shirts decorated to show off their Canadian pride.
“Just to get there to see it, I would have been very, very happy. But when they called my name, it was wow, couldn’t believe it.”
Ooms name was drawn to compete and he qualified for a round after beating out other contestants in guessing the price of a laptop computer.
He said it was overwhelming once he got on stage, but he went with a gut feeling and managed to accurately guess the price of floor cleaner, cold medicine and iced tea to win a grand total of $8,000.
Ooms said he will have to pay taxes on his winnings, but with the low Canadian dollar, he thinks he will still have a pretty big cheque.
The episode aired Wednesday.
