The Saskatchewan Roughriders have lost another one of their impact defensive linemen to free agency.
Wednesday saw Tobi Antigha sign a deal with the Toronto Argonauts.
On Tuesday, the Riders Most Outstanding Player Willie Jefferson signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Antigha was a bit of a defensive chameleon, lining up all over the field, including at defensive end, linebacker and safety. He had three interceptions and two sacks last season as well as 21 defensive tackles.
He was also a standout for the Riders in 2017. He was named the club’s Most Outstanding Rookie with 30 defensive tackles and five sacks to his name.
The Roughriders ended the opening day of free agency signing a familiar face in quarterback Zach Collaros.
They started day two signing 34-year-old Canadian receiver Cory Watson. Watson played last season with the B.C. Lions gathering 406 yards and three touchdowns in 18 games.
He’s entering his ninth season in the league after being taken ninth overall in the 2010 CFL Draft. Watson spent five seasons in Winnipeg before joining the Edmonton Eskimos in 2015 where he spent three seasons.
Watson was part of the Grey Cup winning Eskimos team in 2015.
On day one of free agency, the Roughriders were reportedly in the mix to sign Bo Levi Mitchell – but in the end were unsuccessful as the pivot chose to go back to Calgary.
The club did add defensive lineman Micah Johnson, linebacker Dyshawn Davis and running back William Powell.
Day one also saw fan favourite and defensive star Willie Jefferson sign with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
