Roadways in Prince Albert have flooded after a heavy period of rainfall today and Mayor Greg Dionne said it’ll take hours before the water can properly drain.
Dionne said most West Hill cul-de-sacs have flooded, including parts of 28th and 32nd St. between both Sixth and Fourth Avenues W. Numerous other segments of town including Marquis Rd. west of Sixth Ave. E. have experienced the same issues.
“We’ve got to try and get the message out to tell people don’t drive through the water,” Dionne said. “Quit going out for a drive to have a look.”
Dionne said there were numerous stalled cars, specifically on 28th St. W near the Safeway, and worried excess water could lift manhole covers causing even more turbulence on the roads.
The mayor blamed the flooding on the volume of rain adding the city’s water system was overwhelmed but city crews can do little but wait the storm out.
