Mayor Michael Fougere is excited about events that will be coming to Regina in the coming months – so excited he brought along his band to do a performance at his recent state of the city address.
Fougere manned the drums Thursday as The Garage Band took the stage.
Along with showing off his musical prowess, Fougere spoke about the many exciting things Regina residents should expect in the summer.
“These are the kind of events that give Regina the quality of life that cities our size simply don’t have and I think this is the new normal,” Fougere said during his speech.
While we know all about the NHL outdoor game that’s set to take over Mosaic Stadium, Fougere alluded to other events that could possibly be making their way to the Queen City.
He said these premier events put Regina on the map for many other events and the world will be watching the Queen City in 2019.
“We have some hardworking people … Once you have a success it builds momentum and things happen after that so it’s a lot of people that make these things happen.”
In his speech he mentioned the city should be hearing about the result of its Grey Cup bid soon.
But he also mentioned there are talks about a major outdoor concert in August as well as another major event.
“You’ll have to stay tuned for that,” Fougere said when asked for more details about the concert. “If I tell you now, then there won’t be any more excitement.”
He said there should be announcements surround the major events in the next month or so.
