Rent reduced for Riders, early budget items approved by Regina Council

Council retroactively slashed $1.33 million in rent owed by the Roughriders.
There’s still no one in police custody more than 24 hours after a fatal hit and run in Regina Tuesday morning.
But police Chief Evan Bray is confident his investigators will have someone in custody soon.
“If not by the end of the week, I’m hoping within the next week,” he told Gormley Wednesday. “Our investigators have done some very good work and we’ve got some identities now that we’re able to zero in on.”
A 50-year-old Ontario man – a pedestrian – was killed in the crash, which happened around 8 a.m. Tuesday on the 1800 block Winnipeg Street.
Police said a truck abandoned on the scene, which is believed to have been involved in the crash, was seized by investigators. Police also said it’s believed the truck was stolen at the time of the incident.
“I’m confident we’re going to be able to wrap this up in a positive way in terms of being able to locate the driver, put the pieces together and hold someone to account,” Bray said. “Although we haven’t made an arrest yet, the investigation is going extremely well.”
According to police, the victim’s next of kin has been notified but his identity will not be released.
