A snowmobiler who had been reported missing early Monday morning has been found dead.
File Hills First Nations Police Service Chief Lennard Busch confirmed that search crews found Daniel Spencer dead around noon.
Spencer, 33, was last seen on the Carry the Kettle First Nation on the weekend. The First Nation is located about 80 kilometres east of Regina.
He was seen driving a snowmobile and was believed to be heading off reserve.
Busch said that Spencer likely died of exposure due to the extreme cold. Busch said he still needs to get the official coroner’s autopsy report to confirm that.
The police chief said that Spencer’s family was pretty shaken up and that his relatives had begun grieving. Busch said Spencer’s family members held a smudging and drumming ceremony to honour Spencer.
