Confetti cannon causes power outage at Mosaic Stadium

The power was out for about an hour at Mosaic Stadium on Saturday night, causing a delay in the middle of the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ pre-season game against the B.C. Lions.

Electricity at the stadium and the surrounding area went out around 8:30. SaskPower said it was because someone shot a confetti cannon at a power line, causing lines to touch, which in turn caused fuses to blow.

Several fans left in the hour the power was down while others waited it out, some turning on the flashlight on their cell phones to wave in the air.

Several fans noticed that, just a few blocks away, the lights were still on at the new Mosaic Stadium.

SaskPower crews were dispatched to fix the problem, and around 9:30 p.m. the lights were back on and the game resumed.

Garth Brooks obviously poisoned MeatLoaf and had his agents destroy the transformer at Mosaic to be the only thing happening in Saskie.
