Nine players got the news they’re no longer members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday morning.
Head coach Chris Jones told the media he would make the first set of cuts the morning after the team’s 28-16 loss to B.C. and he kept his word.
Gone are receivers Marquez Clark, S.J. Haidara, Devrin Young; running back Johnta Hebert; defensive back Dan West; defensive linemen Caesar Rayford and Ino Vitale; offensive lineman Will Corbin and linebacker Rollins Stallworth.
Dan West and S.J. Haidara were both members of last year’s Saskatchewan Roughriders, meaning there are now just 21 players left on the roster from the team that went 3-15.
The Riders will play Edmonton on Saturday in their final pre-season game and the final 20+ cuts will have to be made the following morning.
Like to thank the #RiderNation for welcoming me with open arms. Like to thank the staff and coaching organization for the opportunity.
