Farm innovation and technology is on display starting Wednesday as Canada’s Farm Progress Show begins in Regina.
More than 700 exhibitors will be showcasing their products and the show spans most of Evraz Place. The location can make the set-up difficult, as construction on the new Mosaic stadium and nearby roads continues.
People attending will face some of those hurdles as they get to the show, which is why a free park and ride service is being offered from Rambler Park on 13th Ave. The shuttle bus leaves every 15 minutes.
Show manager Shirley Janeczko admits the massive work underway in and around Evraz Place does prove challenging.
“We’ve been working closely with the construction team from the stadium and opening day will be flawless,” she said.
Attendees at Canada’s Farm Progress show will not only see the latest in cutting-edge agricultural products, equipment and services, but often the show is an opportunity for networking and hands-on access to large farming implements.
“There’s a team from the University of Regina that has a robotic printer and there is also a 3D printer this year,” Janeczko explained.
For those showcasing their product, the show is one of the best in the world.
Nathan Lyon with Flexahopper Plastics has attended the show for the past eight years and says it has proved a real benefit.
“We are just here to show off our product and get people interested,” Lyon said as he pointed to the full line of bins on display.
Outside, Trevor Theissen, president of Redekop, was busy shining his straw chopper, and explained why he comes every year.
“It is probably the biggest and most important outdoor show for us to demonstrate our equipment to farmers.”
Canada’s Farm Progress Show runs June 15 to 17.
