A young boy from Eatonia, Sask. hopes to follow in the footsteps of another small-town Canadian kid who made it big.
Kylan Wagner, 11, is set to take the stage Thursday at the SaskTel Centre to dance with Justin Bieber at the pop star’s sold-out show.
He got offered the chance to dance with Bieber after sending in an audition video back in March.
Wagner has been dancing since he was three years old, and said he now practices about 24 hours each week in hopes of being a star.
“I’m hoping I get a lot more opportunities like this after. This is a big opportunity because it opens up my goals a lot more,” he said.
But goals aside, Wagner said he’s thrilled at the chance just to meet Bieber.
“He’s one of my favourite artists,” he said.
Wagner’s mom, Tiffany, is his dance instructor. She said she often has to remind her son to take some time off from dancing now and then, and just be a kid.
“I’ve never had to push him, because he is just so self-motivated,” she said.
“Usually I’m the one telling him he needs to take time off, or we’re going to go to the lake for the weekend and there’s no dancing that weekend.”
Tiffany said she can’t wait to see Wagner hit the stage in front of an arena full of people.
“I’m just so proud of him. This has been one of his dreams and one of his goals to dance onstage with an artist,” she said.
