More adult players are now investing in the protective equipment.
The folks at Evraz Place in Regina looked longingly at those six sold out shows — and 96,000 tickets sold — for Garth Brooks in Saskatoon.
This time next year they could be in the midst of a giant concert in Regina to open the new Mosaic Stadium with a blockbuster show – and Garth Brooks would have been a great choice.
“Its unfortunate he’s touring right now and not in 2017 when our stadium opens,” says Paula Kohl, director of marketing and communication at Evraz Place. Evraz oversees the Brandt Centre and the rest of the exhibition facilities in Regina and will look after booking big shows for the new stadium.
So who are they looking at for next year in Mosaic Stadium 2.0?
“That’s the question everybody wants answered, right?”
But Kohl also says it is too early to say much of anything just yet.
“We certainly are having conversations right now. We’re not 100 per cent sure who will be touring in 2017.”
It has to be a performer big enough to put on a stadium-sized show — like the Rolling Stones or Paul McCartney – or yes – Garth Brooks, if only 96,000 people had not already seen him perform this year.
That said, Paula Kohl says they hope to be able to make the big announcement sometime in the near future.
