The RCMP has identified a suspect in relation to a kidnapping that occurred near Melville in July.
Now, police are asking for the public’s help in locating the man.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 27-year-old Alvin Lawrence Sunshine, who is wanted on charges of breaking and entering to commit kidnapping, using a firearm to commit kidnapping, using a firearm to commit robbery, and wearing a disguise with intent. He’s also facing three counts of theft.
On July 12, Melville RCMP got a call about a reported kidnapping from a rural property south of that city.
A woman was home alone when a man entered her house armed with a gun that reportedly had been stolen from that residence. He demanded that she drive him to Regina and she complied.
When they got to the city, the man forced the woman to take him to a house. After they arrived, he got out of the car and she drove off unharmed. She subsequently contacted the Regina Police Service.
After months of investigation, charges have been laid against Sunshine.
He’s described as being about 5-foot-8 and 140 pounds with a slender build, brown eyes and black hair.
Anyone with information about Sunshine’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Melville RCMP at 1-306-728-1700, their local police service, or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
