When Saskatchewan people moved to another part of Canada in the last quarter of 2018, by and large, they were moving to Alberta.
According to numbers from Statistics Canada, Saskatchewan made a net gain in population between Oct. 1, 2018 and Jan. 1, 2019. The population rose by 2,520 to 1,168,423 as of the first day of 2019.
In the fourth quarter of 2018, 2,846 Canadians moved to Saskatchewan while 4,449 people from Saskatchewan moved to other parts of the country.
Two thousand and fifty-four of those people — 46 per cent of those who left — moved from Saskatchewan to Alberta.
But of those coming to Saskatchewan, the largest number were from Alberta — 40 per cent, or 1,160.
Saskatchewan also had a large number of people moving in from out of the country, with 2,851 people coming to the province from other nations.
