RCMP have recovered the body of a man who drowned in Katepwa Lake Tuesday afternoon.
The search began after police were called to Katepwa Point just before 3 p.m. They say the 23-year-old man had been swimming with friends when he went past a buoy into deeper water and began to struggle. His friends and another person in the lake tried to rescue him, but he disappeared under the water.
The man’s body was found just after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Police say it was found in 26 feet of water near where the man was last seen.
RCMP say there is nothing suspicious about the man’s death.
The man’s name will not be released.
