Regina’s Bernadette McIntyre can be found at many different events throughout the year as a volunteer and now she’s being recognized for her work.
McIntyre was named the sports event volunteer of the year by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance for her work in 2018. She volunteered for a wide variety of events from the Tim Hortons Brier and Memorial Cup to the CP Women’s Open.
“It’s very humbling and maybe just a little embarrassing because you never do this alone. You do it with great committee members, with hundreds and maybe thousands of volunteers,” McIntyre told the 980 CJME Greg Morgan Morning Show on Monday.
She said her husband has been an awesome supporter of her endeavours throughout the years, especially when their children were smaller.
She said there are always events people can volunteer their time for in Regina.
“We are a part of a volunteerism culture here,” she said.
Some of those events include the outdoor NHL game coming to Mosaic Stadium, the Farm Progress Show and the 2020 Grey Cup.
