Prince Edward wraps up Regina visit with barbecue on a farm

Prince Edward had a relaxing final night in Saskatchewan during his visit to Regina this week.

Katelyn Duncan’s family hosted the Earl of Wessex at their farm just outside of the Queen City Thursday for a good old-fashioned barbecue.

“When presented with the opportunity, we definitely said yes and we would love to have him out here,” Duncan told the CJME Morning Show Friday.

Duncan said the whole family came together to get the yard ready, and while there was a good amount of security on hand, the prince wasn’t given royal priority over everyone else.

“We thought it was funny, too, because they had ice cream sundaes for supper, and the prince just went in the sundae line.”

Edward visited the farm without his wife, Sophie, as she had already departed Regina earlier in the day.

Conversations revolved around agriculture, with the prince asking a lot of questions about the industry in the province.

And despite the Brexit vote taking place at the time in which Britons were voting on whether to leave the European Union, Duncan said the conversations stayed very relaxed.

“From what they told us this was quite a different event for him, and quite relaxed. He was more comfortable than a lot of events he’s been to just because (of) the face it was so informal on a farm.”
