A Regina Police Service operation Tuesday that involved the use of crisis negotiators and the SWAT team has resulted in the arrest of one suspect.
According to an RPS media release, an investigation into “a number of recent criminal incidents” led police to the 2000 block of Ottawa Street.
Officers set up a perimeter between Victoria Avenue, 13th Avenue, Toronto Street and St. John Street. The RPS also had a presence at the General Hospital and Thomson School — where a “secure the building” order was given — while crisis negotiators, the SWAT team and canine units attended the scene on Ottawa Street.
Eventually, several women and children left the house voluntarily. A male suspect tried to run, but a Taser was used and he was taken into custody.
There weren’t any other injuries.
Charges are pending as the RPS continues its investigation into all of the incidents.
