The last school bells of the semester rang out for elementary students at Regina Public Schools at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, sending kids streaming outside into the summer heat.
“You just know that you don’t have any more school left and no more homework until a couple months and yeah, it’s just super exciting” said Jenna as she stepped outside.
She has plenty of plans for the summer between Grade 6 and 7.
“My cousins are coming from China so I get to have fun with them and have fun with my friends,” she said.
A few students lingered behind on the playground saying goodbye to their friends who they won’t see every day through the summer. One or two may even miss their teachers.
“Happy,” Emma said, to sum up the feeling of the end of school.
“You get to be free for a whole 60 days.”
She plans to go camping and spend time at the lake.
Isaiah says the best part is the freedom from school. He plans to sleep in and spend a lot of time hanging out with his friends.
