The Capital Pointe property is now on the Regina real estate market.
The 0.71 acre lot is listed by Cushman & Wakefield Regina for $8.5 million. It’s described as a high profile development site on a prime corner lot in downtown Regina.
Capital Pointe was once meant to become the tallest residential tower in Saskatchewan at 27 storeys but faced several delays with little development, sitting as a hole in the ground for years.
The City of Regina took Westgate Properties to court, which led to a ruling to fill the hole. After the deadline passed for Westgate to do it on its own, the city set out to find a contractor to do the job.
A request for proposals was issued with a deadline of April 11. Mayor Michael Fougere said he expects the hole to be filled in early summer.
The failed project became the target of mockery by members of the public who showed up for events to say “wow” like Owen Wilson and “kthxbye” as they bid farewell before the hole is filled.
