I can’t wait to see the draft grades from the first round of the NFL draft.
Grading teams in the days after the draft is the most unnecessary exercise in sports. As fun as it is to over-hype young college athletes and pretend to know what they’ll do as pros , the draft is still a crapshoot.
Look at the draft a decade a go. I remember it well because the Raiders over reached for Darrius Heyward-Bey at No. 7 and there were some edge rushers who were supposed to be automatic NFL talent in the first 10 picks.
Want to know who the best one was in the draft? Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers, who was the 26th pick overall.
There is no way to tell how a team did in April before these players step on the field in the NFL.
It’s OK to be excited but don’t hand out any grades in April or it’ll be easy to deliver an ‘F’ grade for your NFL draft analysis.
