A man hit by a car and then shot, a brawl at a gas station, a series of stolen vehicles, and police chases — the RCMP is still searching for one man, considered armed and dangerous, after a busy couple of days around Regina.
It started on Wednesday afternoon. The RCMP said a man who was walking on the Muskowekwan First Nation, southeast of Regina, was hit by a stolen Ford Explorer and then shot. Police didn’t say whether he was all right.
Later on that day, a grey Ford Explorer was reported driving erratically near the marijuana dispensary on the Muscowpetung First Nation, near Fort Qu’Appelle. Officers arrived and, though they didn’t find that vehicle, they did find another man in a different stolen vehicle. He was arrested and charged.
Then on Thursday, there was a brawl at a gas station on the Piapot First Nation, north of Regina.
The RCMP say the fight started out as an argument between two men in one vehicle and two men in another vehicle which had been stolen from Pilot Butte. Then the argument escalated into a fight which involved a machete.
One man was struck with the machete, and police say he was taken to hospital in Regina by his family.
The other man fled with his family in a vehicle, while the RCMP say the suspects got in their stolen vehicle and chased him, trying to run his vehicle off the road several times.
The man got to the medical clinic at the Muscowpetung First Nation and ran inside, while one of the suspects jumped out of their vehicle and stole his.
This all ended with two separate car chases between police and each of the suspects. One ended on Highway 6 outside Regina, while the other ended after the stolen vehicle rolled in a field.
All in all, three men were arrested and charged with crimes ranging from assault with a weapon, and possession of stolen property to dangerous driving.
Police are still looking for 25-year-old Donnely Nanaquewetung (pictured) in connection to these crimes. The RCMP considers him armed and dangerous, and warned that if people see him, they should call police instead of approaching him.
