A dog bit and some serious charges ended a joyride for two Regina teenagers.
Police said they spotted a stolen vehicle from Moose Jaw at Winnipeg Street and 12th Avenue, in the Core neighbourhood. The officers followed the vehicle for an hour, then managed to deploy a spike belt at Massey Road and Parker Avenue, just in front of Campbell Collegiate.
According to police, the vehicle continued on for about four blocks until it stopped at Knowles Crescent and Gardiner Avenue, and the two people inside tried to run.
One was caught by police officers, the other was found with the help of the police Canine Unit and was bit by the dog – he was taken to hospital for some minor injuries.
The two 14 and 16-year-old boys are both charges with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, fail to comply with disposition.
The boys cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
