People in Regina looking for a hot getaway this winter will have an easy choice to add to the list – the Regina airport is adding non-stop service to Orlando, Florida.
The airport announced the addition on Monday. They will be direct, non-stop, seasonal flights every Thursday.
Flights will begin October 27, and end the following April 27. They’ll be operated by WestJet on a 737-7000 that can seat 130 people.
Airport President and CEO Dick Graham said in a news release he’s pleased about the service.
“Service to Florida is an important market to our passengers with Orlando being one of our top unserved destinations and one of our top four transborder destinations.”
The announcement said the Regina International Airport Authority worked hard with Orlando’s international airport to make the route happen.
This will be the only direct, non-stop service to Florida offered in Saskatchewan.
Though the route will only be flown six-months out of the year, it’s a win for the Regina airport which lost its year-round direct flights to the U.S. when Delta Airlines pulled out this summer.
