It’s something most hockey parents can only dream about — hoisting the Stanley Cup.
Regina’s Mitch Bozak got to see his son Tyler do it after the St. Louis Blues defeated the Boston Bruins 4-1 in Game 7 of the NHL final Wednesday night.
“We certainly had a great big hug,” Mitch Bozak told 980 CJME’s Greg Morgan Morning Show. “I just said, ‘Congratulations. Can’t believe this is happening.’ We were just in the moment. Everybody’s just running around (because) the Cup’s there.”
The game kept Bozak on the edge of his seat.
“Tyler being with the Leafs and the past experience with playoffs and the Bruins coming from behind (in Game 7 of their 2013 playoffs series), I’m not going to lie: I wasn’t comfortable maybe until that fourth (goal) went in,” he said.
“It’s surreal, honestly. I couldn’t believe it. Even getting on the ice and running around with the guys and celebrating was pretty special, that’s for sure.”
Saskatchewan was well-represented on the team; Bozak was joined in the contingent by Wilcox’s Jaden Schwartz and Saskatoon’s Brayden Schenn.
